What do experts recommend for long-lasting tile installation?
Long-lasting tile installation comes from three things: matching the tile adhesive grade to the tile type and substrate, following correct notch-trowel technique with full back-buttering on large tiles, and using a compatible grout system for the joints. Cutting corners on any one of the three is the single most common reason for tile failure in Indian construction. Veromaxx provides free on-site application training for contractor teams to help avoid these mistakes.
Is tile adhesive better than cement for fixing tiles?
Yes. Traditional sand-cement mortar has been superseded by polymer-modified tile adhesive for almost every modern tile installation. Tile adhesive gives higher bond strength, allows thinner bed application (saving material and floor level), holds vitrified and non-porous tiles far more reliably, and comes with predictable pot life and setting times. Cement mortar remains suitable only for a narrow range of low-value applications on absorbent tiles.
What happens if the wrong tile adhesive is used?
Using an under-graded tile adhesive with heavy or non-porous tiles leads to hollow spots, tile debonding, and eventual failure – often within months, sometimes years later once thermal cycling has done its work. In wet areas, a non-waterproof tile adhesive allows moisture to reach the substrate, causing efflorescence and staining. Match adhesive grade to tile weight, size and exposure – Veromaxx product pages include a selection guide for each grade.
How do I fix loose or cracked tiles?
For a small area of loose tiles, gently lift the loose tile, clean off old adhesive from both the tile back and the substrate, and re-fix with a fresh polymer-modified tile adhesive. For widespread failure across a larger area, the root cause is almost always the original adhesive specification – piecemeal fixes will not last. Which tile adhesive is best for bathrooms or wet areas?
Bathroom tile installation needs tile adhesive with confirmed waterproofing and flexibility ratings – the substrate goes through daily wet-dry cycles that lesser adhesives cannot survive. Use a Type 2 flexible polymer-modified tile adhesive as a minimum, and follow with a waterproof grout system. Veromaxx bathroom-grade tile adhesive is formulated specifically for this exposure profile.
Why is tile adhesive better than cement for tile fixing?
Tile adhesive is a purpose-engineered polymer-modified system, while sand-cement mortar is a general-purpose material being asked to do a specialised job. Polymer-modified tile adhesive gives four to six times the bond strength of mortar, works reliably on non-porous vitrified tiles that cement cannot hold, requires only 3-5mm of bed thickness (versus 25-40mm for mortar), sets predictably, and is far less prone to installation errors. Every serious tiling job in modern Indian construction uses tile adhesive, not mortar.
What is the difference between tile grout and epoxy grout?
Cement-based tile grout is a polymer-modified cementations material suitable for standard wall and floor tile joints in normal-use residential areas. Epoxy grout is a two-part epoxy resin system that is essentially waterproof, stain-resistant and chemical-resistant – the correct specification for wet areas, kitchens, swimming pools and commercial floors. Is Veromaxx tile adhesive ISO certified?
Yes. Veromaxx tile adhesive and all other products in the range are manufactured under an ISO-certified quality management system with in-process testing at every production stage. Products are tested against IS 15477 (Indian Standard) and EN 12004 (European Standard) specifications for tile adhesive. Batch test certificates are available on request for tender submissions and quality documentation.
